The This Goes to 11 Hotel Review

In Los Angeles tonight...I just returned from seeing Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at the Hollywood Bowl. The review will be over at The Music Chamber in the next day or so.

I'm staying tonight at the Biltmore Hotel...a hotel with a little history. Most famously, it's where they shot the hotel scene from Ghostbusters. The irony here comes about 1:22 in:

So let me tell you, the beds are very comfy and the water pressure in the shower could blast the ugly off of Helen Thomas (well, maybe not). But to get a freakin' glass of milk here, I'd need to call room service...and the charge would be EIGHT FIFTY plus tip for a 12 ounce bottle. Vending machines? Conveniently out of order. Parking? FORTY FREAKIN DOLLARS...plus the tips.

Oh well. I guess if I want to stay in luxury, I have to pay, right?

But what I wasn't expecting was the bad illegal alien problem they have here:

Good gosh...this thing was three inches long! And excuse me for mistaking this for an illegal alien, but it was running very quickly across my floor and clearly living in the shadows.

Oh...and speaking of cockroaches:

WASHINGTON (June 25) - Hundreds of people have been arrested and 21 children rescued in what the FBI is calling a five-day roundup of networks of pimps who force children into prostitution.

In all, authorities arrested 345 people — including 290 adult prostitutes — during the operation that ended this week. Since 2003, 308 pimps and hookers have been convicted in state and federal courts of forcing youngsters into prostitution, and 433 child victims have been rescued, Mueller said.

The cities targeted in this week's sting are: Atlanta; Boston; Dallas; Detroit; Houston; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Miami; Montgomery County, Md.; Oakland, Calif.; Phoenix; Reno, Nev.; Sacramento, Calif.; Tampa; Toledo, Ohio and Washington.
