What's wrong with this picture?

Would you believe...these women are starving?

I'm not making that up.

Because according to NPR, these women are malnourished thanks to rising food costs and a poor Ohio economy:

The rising cost of food means their money gets them about a third fewer bags of groceries — $100 used to buy about 12 bags of groceries, but now it's more like seven or eight. So they cut back on expensive items like meat, and they don't buy extras like ice cream anymore. Instead, they eat a lot of starches like potatoes and noodles.

Damn. Maybe that Atkins guy was on to something...

Wow. Noodles and potatoes. That's like throwing your money away anyway. Haven't they heard of fruit and veg? Fish? Food tastes better when it's, you know, real food.

Shutting up now.

Oh, you bastard-o! You beat me to it today. I just read this story and immediately thought about Phil Gramm's statement about our nation being full of whiners. How true are the words when you read a story about these under-achieving slack-asses. NPR tuning up the string section of pity and playing the tune of despair. LOSERS! Whatever happened to self-determination?! Whatever happened to the American Spirit?! I refuse to feel sorry for people that refuse to get off their proportionately-substantial-sized asses and help themselves.
